About this course
24 RACE-Approved CE Hours | 3-Day Lecture + Hands-On Wet Lab | Towson, Maryland Build the complete foundation needed to make veterinary dentistry more diagnostic, systematic and clinically rewarding. ADTC’s Fundamentals of Dentistry program is a three-day, skills-first introduction to small-animal dentistry that connects the entire dental procedure—from examination and dental radiography through periodontal assessment, treatment planning and extraction technique. Rather than separating dentistry into disconnected lectures, the course is designed around the way cases actually progress in practice: identify pathology, obtain diagnostic images, formulate a treatment plan and perform the appropriate procedure. Core training includes: Complete oral examination, dental terminology and charting Dental radiographic positioning, image acquisition and interpretation Recognition of common dental and oral pathology Periodontal disease assessment and treatment principles Dental instrumentation and efficient procedural workflow Closed and surgical extraction fundamentals Flap design, tooth sectioning, controlled bone removal and closure Practical troubleshooting of common radiographic and extraction challenges Hands-on means hands-on. Participants work at individual, fully equipped dental workstations and use dedicated instruments throughout the laboratories. ADTC’s low instructor-to-participant ratio allows faculty to watch technique, critique radiographs and procedures, and work directly with participants as skills develop. Who should attend: General practitioners who are new to dentistry, have primarily learned dentistry on the job, or want to rebuild their foundation using a systematic, evidence-informed approach. No prerequisite is required. The objective is straightforward: return to practice able to produce better diagnostic information, make more confident treatment decisions and perform common dental procedures with a clearer and more repeatable workflow.
